Will do tonight. Are you leaning towards any particular class? I seem to recall mentions of rangers?

Yes I'm working on a ranger. Unsurprisingly the list of nice skills to have is still too long.

I want to try out two-weapon fighting wielding 2 of the same weapons. I assume it is not possible to wield 2 long swords, so I'm going for short sword spec. Or is 2 long swords cool? (The rules don't state either way.)

And while you're at the rolling, could you do a money roll too?

(The rules don't state either way.) One line suggests differing sized weapons. But I'm happy for you to use 2 short swords. Being small weapons they'd give you full damage for NPD too.

With ability scores this good, I'm not wrecking it with Q&Fs What is the human language of the region called? What are prominent humanoid languages in the region? In a "know your enemy" fashion I'm thinking about picking up a smattering of Orc or goblin or whatnot. On weapons, what speed do we use to sheath / draw a weapon when swapping weapons? E.g. wielding a primary longsword, secondary short sword and then swapping to 2 short swords. Or the other way around. And what to ready/stow a shield? Starting equipment, do we just purchase straight at cost or play it out some way?

Skill rolls, do we do them in maptools, by ourselves, or make a list for you to roll?

With ability scores this good, I'm not wrecking it with Q&Fs Boring! (j/k)You could always cherry-pick a very minor Q&F or two, for about 5-10 BP just to add a little more 'character'? You wouldn't get a load of BPs but you're not at the mercy of the dice either. What is the human language of the region called? That's something I've only just decided! The native human language is 'Thylli', from the old Hoarland word meaning 'speak'. It is also known as 'Kandaarian', mostly by foreigners but increasingly so by Frithlanders too. Hoarlanders and Frithlanders also have their own spoken dialects which can be considered different enough from Thylli to be treated as seperate languages for the purpose of the Language skill - although competence in any one of the three can grant a bonus when trying to use another, even if unskilled. What are prominent humanoid languages in the region? In a "know your enemy" fashion I'm thinking about picking up a smattering of Orc or goblin or whatnot. To be decided - flora/fauna/monster populations is a high priority on my To Do list. On weapons, what speed do we use to sheath / draw a weapon when swapping weapons? E.g. wielding a primary longsword, secondary short sword and then swapping to 2 short swords. Or the other way around. And what to ready/stow a shield? Unless the PHB has something different, we'll use the rules in HMb. Starting equipment, do we just purchase straight at cost or play it out some way? Purchase up front, at book prices.

The table at the bottom of HMb page 106 has times for drawing and readying weapons (small: 0 sec, medium: 1 sec, large: 2 sec). We (the several groups I've GM-ed and/or played in) have always used the same value for stowing - so if a sword takes 1 second to draw, it takes 1 second to sheath. Dropping weapons is a free action (0 seconds) but in some circumstances may damage the weapon.
As for shields, we've used the same times for them - although I've been thinking about increasing this as most shields are worn rather than carried.
Hmm, I think we might need a House Rules area to cover a few things until the PHB does so...
